چکیده
Background: Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) is the key enzyme, regulates blood pressure which encoded by 21kb gene that consists of 26 exons and located on chromosome 17, contains a polymorphism in form either Insertion (I) or Deletion (D). The aim was to study effect antihypertensive drugs patients essential hypertension associated with ACE polymorphism. Methods: Hypertensive were recruited followed genetic test done for detecting polymorphism, then divided as Group-A & B. Group –A B treated atenolol (25mg) azilsartan (40 mg) three months respectively. Results: Systolic diastolic recorded both groups before after commencement treatment. Among 88 newly diagnosed hypertension, majority population belongs genotype D/D (38.63%) I/D (31.81%) II (29.54%) genotype. Significant difference found systolic (p<0.05) but not (p>0.05). Conclusion: rate control high I/I irrespective treatment group. Overall better prognosis observed 40mg compared 25mg polymorphisms.

Effectiveness of antihypertensive drugs in hypertensive patients with end stage renal failure.
Hypertension has been identified as one of the causes for end stage renal failure (ESRF) and is likely to worsen kidney function. This retrospective study was carried out at a tertiary hospital in Malaysia with the objective of determining the effectiveness of combination antihypertensive drugs in hypertensive patients with ESRF admitted between 2006 and 2008. Patients with incomplete data and ...

BACKGROUND The angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) gene in humans has an insertion-deletion (I/D) polymorphic state in intron 16 on chromosome 17q23. This polymorphism has been widely investigated in different diseases. In this study we aimed to investigate the ACE I/D genotype frequency in hypertensive cases in Kashmiri population. MATERIALS AND METHODS We designed a case control study, wher...

Discrepancies in angiotensin-1 converting enzyme (ACE) allele genetic susceptibility with disease etiology have been attributed to ethnic differences. We investigated ACE gene polymorphism of the multiethnic Malaysian population by utilizing nested polymerase chain reaction. Allelic frequency of 0.65 and 0.35 for I and D allele, respectively in the pooled population was comparable with other As...
